SELLING YOUR IMAGES ON

OVERVIEW:

As an additional service to our members, we offer online buying and selling of your artwork. It's completely optional, but many of our artists have asked for it. This let's us take care of the hassles of credit cards, money tracking, server storage and order fulfillment. By doing this, we let you concentrate on what you do best...creating great artwork.

If you would like to sell your original artwork, prints or digital stock images on ArtWanted.com, just fill in the description and price fields on the EDIT IMAGE page. Please create a new entry for each purchasing option.

To sell your images on our site, you must agree to our seller terms and conditions.

For example: If I created a painting and I'm selling the original canvas, 2 sizes of prints & 3 different size resolutions in a digital file, I would have 6 entries for this one image. Here are a few sample entries:
• Original oil on canvas, 90 inches by 56 inches. $495.00
  
• 4x6 postcard print of painting, blank on backside. $2.00
  
• 24 MB digital file. 10" by 7" @ 300 dpi. $95.00

  Do not put descriptions advertising your services or that an image is NFS (not for sale). If you enter a listing for an image, this means you are selling that piece of artwork for the amount specified. If you wish to advertise your services, you need to do this in your artist bio or your own website.

WHO DOES THE FULFILLMENT?

After an order is placed and money is collected from ArtWanted, a copy of the order will be e-mailed to you so that you can ship out the original or print. Please include US shipping/handling fees in price of artwork. Digital stock files will be fulfilled by ArtWanted, so please send them to us on a CD or Zip disk. This allows us to send the images quickly to the client via Internet download or priority mail.

WHAT DO YOU CHARGE?

Because this service will require lots of maintenance, tracking and staffing, we do charge a modest fee for orders placed through ArtWanted. We charge a flat 15% fee for order you get from our website. We simply recommend increasing the website price of the artwork by 15% to cover these costs so that you are not 'out' anything.

I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP.

If you wish to handle the transactions/tracking/fulfillment yourself, this is totally fine with us as well. Just enter something like: "For sale by artist, please contact him/her directly to purchase artwork." in the purchase description. We prefer that the transactions are handled directly by the artist & buyer, but we offer this option as a convenience to our members.

HOW DO I GET PAID?

Each image that is purchased from the site will be kept in a database which you can view at anytime from the members area. Here you will see what images have sold, the price and who bought them. By the 10th of each month, we will send you a check for the artwork (minus our 15% fee) of the total image price, from the previous month.

WHAT SHOULD I CHARGE?

This is entirely up to the artist. There are many factors that determine the price of artwork. Some of these are: How well known the artist is, how long it took to create, how many copies there are, if it's signed, etc. We recommend browsing thought the artwork that is for sale on this site to see how your pricing compares with other artists. We also recommend getting the Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing & Ethical Guidelines.

WHY SHOULD I SELL MY IMAGES ON ARTWANTED.COM?

There are actually dozens of reasons. We want our site not only to be a large online gallery to find artistic talent, but we also want it to be a place where people come to buy artwork for their home or next project. By offering your artwork for sale on the site, you can make money you would have never had.

Most freelance artists can't take credit cards either and by using this service, you can accept all of the credit cards we do. Another great thing about ArtWanted.com is that you have complete control over your artwork. If some paintings are not selling very well on the site, just drop them and add some new fresh ones. If you have a client that wants to buy an image from you, but wants to pay by credit card, you just need to upload the image to the site and sell it from here.
